Diffuser and air terminal
Visible air outlet or inlet that shapes how air enters or leaves a room.
Overview
A diffuser, grille, or air terminal is the room-facing part of a ventilation or ducted cooling system. Although it looks simple, its type and location strongly influence comfort, draft, noise, visual integration, and balancing performance.
Why the location matters
A perfectly installed duct system can still disappoint if the air terminal is placed above a bed, into a curtain pocket, too close to a thermostat, or in a ceiling zone with poor throw and return-air behavior.
Site checklist
- Terminal is aligned with ceiling and finish layout.
- Air throw and return path make sense for the room function.
- Access remains possible if the terminal or nearby controls require maintenance.
